Born in London in 1984, Helen took up the trumpet at the age of nine and was a keen musician from the outset winning prizes and scholarships in her school years. She subsequently studied at the Royal Academy and Royal College of Music with renowned teachers such as Howard Snell, Paul Beniston, Ian Balmain and Paul Archibald, graduating with a master’s degree in 2009.
Helen is an active professional player performing solo, chamber music and orchestral concerts. She has played with the BBC Symphony Orchestra and London Mozart Players and has also given concerts abroad. On a tour of France Helen performed Arutunian’s trumpet concerto and joined the Amadeus Orchestra and the Welsh Brass Band on their tours to China and Libya. Performing solo and chamber repertoire she undertook a ten day cruise of West Africa with members of the LSO and BBC Symphony Orchestra.
Helen has been broadcast on various radio stations including BBC Radio 3, and recorded music in 2011 by John Gardener for Toccata Classics.
In 2012 she joined City Brass, a brass quartet with whom she maintains a busy schedule, performing both professional concerts and educational outreach work.
